240) Day 8 -- Reason #8 to revolt against Predatory Capitalism
Facebook, Instagram, and obviously X (ex-Twitter) are brainwashing us, en masse, and we’re becoming increasingly horrible to each other, as a society. “Follow the money” to see why this is happening.
239) Day 7 -- Reason #7 to revolt against Predatory Capitalism
How does it feel to remember that your TIME, that is, your LIFE, has been sacrificed to make other people rich?
238) Day 6 -- Reason #6 to revolt against Predatory Capitalism
The predominant message being given to Canadians and Americans about “cutting regulations” is, quite simply, bullshit. It is a lie. But it’s great for serving the DONOR$ who give tons of $$$$ to political parties and to politicians privately, and on whose boards politicians go and sit after their political career is over, raking in even more $$.
237) Day 5 -- Reason #5 to revolt against Predatory Capitalism
You know how there’s all this talk about Canada’s “terrible carbon tax”? You know how Pierre Poilievre and his ilk are telling Canadians that the oh-so-hated Carbon Tax, evil machination of Trudeau, is driving inflation and making us all struggle to afford food?
Well, it’s just not true. It is a bald-faced lie. But it sure gets voters to hate the Liberals, eh?
236) Day 4 -- Reason #4 to revolt against Predatory Capitalism
We are told “this is inflation”. It’s not. It’s corporate greed. Turns out that disasters, like COVID, are great smokescreens for gouging the public and getting away with it.
In other words, our corporate masters wait until we face deep challenges in society, and then ….they help us. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Just kidding.
235) Day 3 -- Reason #3 to revolt against Predatory Capitalism
You work your butt off, 40 hours or more a week, week after week after week, to barely make ends meet.
And they make that money in ONE DAY.
234) Day 2 -- Reason #2 to revolt against Predatory Capitalism
Over and over and over, everywhere that Conservative “pro-business” “common-sense” “efficiency” rhetoric takes hold, it means only two things….
233) 365 Days, 365 Reasons to Revolt Against Predatory Capitalism: Day 1 -- Reason 1
This goes FAR beyond “left vs. right” politics. This is about basic shit, like Freedom. Human rights. The ability to live in a world of beauty and culture and safety and peace, rather than a prison of control and violence. We are entering humanity’s last stand.
232) The beginning of revolution is knowing what the hell is actually going on: Let's start with the Military-Industrial Complex and how it controls our governments
Civil society at large (i.e., you, me and the rest of us) needs to start learning in-depth about the way that the “state” (i.e., our governments) is controlled by war.
228) Resisting Authoritarianism: It is time to get more involved
Look back at yourself someday as a goddamn hero, and be proud of what you did when the dark times came.
221) I would like to continue to exist, please: The problem of Conservative rhetoric
I don’t like slippery slopes that lead to it being illegal for myself to exist.
219) "They're eating the cats..."
Remember, there are no small number of people in the United States, even members of Congress, who believe in the QAnon fantasy-world. They believe that the Democrats are controlled by a Satanic cabal, who kidnap and torture babies in order to extract a chemical from their brains while they are tortured, which gives immortality.
216) Having a great summer weekend
How do we live with this dissonance?
How do we have “good weekends” with a heart-at-peace, knowing our fellow humans are being exterminated as if they are vermin?
170) Hallowe'en, Ancestors, and War: One small way you can take action
For Hallowe’en this year, I decided to start a new tradition, in the spirit of Dia de los Muertos, a personal ritual of honouring my ancestors at midnight tonight, and welcoming them back into my life. I am humbled at their sacrifice and strength, and I am proud to have done my part in breaking the cycles of trauma, violence, and more trauma that result from such horrific experiences as war.
169) The despair you are feeling right now: Dead children, bombed hospitals, the lies of tyranny in a dying world, and the crushing hopelessness of “What the hell can I DO about any of this?”
What can we do, in the midst of a genocide? What can we do, in the midst of tyranny that’s been happening, and strengthening, since before we were born? We can we do, in a world that burns its own living flesh, due to the greed of the most-privileged minority who clamour for ever-more wealth and power?
None of us want this.
145) Coming Full Circle: Part 5 — The Bleeding Hearts and The Artists Make Their Stand
There’s no sense pretending we are not in this situation, just like there’s no sense in a budding sapling pretending it didn’t germinate in poor soil, if that’s the reality.
No, that sapling has to grow those roots deeper, and proliferate its root system so thoroughly that it gets the life energy it needs to survive and thrive. Right there, in the poor soil it was planted it. Or, it dies.
144) Coming Full Circle: Part 4 — My Personal Piece of Performance Art
It’s not ideas that will make the difference, so much as it’s people connecting to their gentle, and passionate, animal hearts, their sensuous flesh, their mortal vulnerability.
How many of us, truly, have dug down into our guts and done the deep, soul-work necessary to heal our wounds and fill our hearts with love for our neighbours?
143) Coming Full Circle: Part 3 — Screaming into the Void
I know I might be screaming into the void here. But we have to talk about this. We have to change it. How the hell can we face the future, and look in the eyes of tomorrow’s children, unless we can at the very least say, “I really tried to do what I could”?
142) Coming Full Circle: Part 2 -- Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land
From the perspective of “how can humans manage their societies on this planet?”, the best understanding that we now collectively have, is, in essence, the common wisdom that is shared among indigenous cultures.
141) Coming Full Circle: Part 1 — Me, this blog, Pink, and a Scathing Diatribe against The System, maaaan
I feel really, really grateful for you all. All the people who have been reading this and sharing thoughts, a whole community of people who share ideas on Facebook especially and in comments here — it’s just awesome to have experienced all this. Blogging is (for me anyway, lol….) a pretty personal thing, like writing into your diary….but then for some ungodly reason sharing it with the world.
