290) The hidden subtext of Mark Carney’s WEF speech, and how it shows that while “everything is changing,” nothing is changing — (Also, Reason #38 to revolt against Predatory Capitalism)

I applaud Mark Carney for his speech, for throwing down the gauntlet, for taking a sttand against the fortress-like, impoverished world of “great powers” dominating everything.  It was a powerful, epoch-shifting speech, and brilliant in its pragmatism.

But the world of depraved corporate greed that puts profit over people, over Life, over rights, over love, remains firmly in place.  Just diversified.

289) Mark Carney’s History-making Speech - 2026 World Economic Forum

Let me be direct. We are in the midst of a rupture, not a transition.

Over the past two decades, a series of crises in finance, health, energy and geopolitics have laid bare the risks of extreme global integration. But more recently, great powers have begun using economic integration as weapons, tariffs as leverage, financial infrastructure as coercion, supply chains as vulnerabilities to be exploited.

287) Dear Traditional Parents:  I spent 16 years listening to your daughters. Here is what they told me.

I hope any “traditional parent” who does read this will, at the very least, be logical enough to realize that, if you want your kids to grow up healthy, your own approach tends to produce the opposite.  It doesn’t “protect” your children.  It harms them.

I spent sixteen years listening to your daughters tell me all about that.

279) The cost of feeding the dogs of war (and the utter imbecility of the decision-makers behind it)

Imagine that you wanted to personally fund a $10 billion [war], and you make, say, $80,000 per year. You would have needed to start working ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND YEARS AGO, about 60,000 years BEFORE stone-tool-using Homo sapiens were interbreeding with Neanderthals, and you would have had to save every single penny.

272) Happy birthday, Clara

Rooted in authentic self-acceptance, in easy, free, love for your life, Joy is just there, moment by moment, from when you first open your eyes, to the middle of slurping your bowl of noodles, to walking down the street, to watching some TV show, to talking with a friend or reading a book.  It’s just there.

It’s like how, when you wake up in the springtime and the windows are open, you hear birds.  You just do.  They’re just there, singing.  Even on what might be a really tough day in your life, the birds sing.
