239) Day 7 -- Reason #7 to revolt against Predatory Capitalism
Why can't we afford anything? Here's one reason --- the people at the top seriously don't give a fuck about us. But they sure are making a lot of money off YOUR time spent working and generating profits for....them.
As the above two images SO CLEARLY illustrate, for about half a century at least, as people have worked their asses off, building their careers, sacrificing their hobbies and free time for work, trying to climb the corporate ladder, trying to save enough to make a better life for themselves and their families, the people at the top of the heap, the 1%, have been getting wealthier and wealthier and wealthier. Worker productivity benefits the OWNERS of the corporations they work for, as corporate profits rise, and corporate CEO pay skyrockets.
Meanwhile, the cost of living has been going up and up and up, and the average worker?
Well, they've been falling behind. Their work has, over the decades, led to LESS quality of life, LESS affordability, LESS likelihood that they'll ever attain the so-called "American dream". The current generation of people growing up have WORSE economic prospects than their parents, LESS chance of home ownership, LESS chance of financial security.
This sucks. Half a century of contributing to "the economy", and in the end, workers get less, because their economic "masters" take more, and more, and more.
How does it feel to remember that your TIME, that is, your LIFE, has been sacrificed to make other people rich?
(NOTE: US stats; does anyone have similar ones to share about Canada?)
