268) Day 36 -- Reason #36 to revolt against Predatory Capitalism: FREEDOM, Part 1: We all value Freedom
As a true Canadian, I have to say first of all, I’m sorry. This is going to hurt.
257) Day 25 -- Reason #25 to revolt against Predatory Capitalism: Civil Rights and the Fight for Freedom
So yes, let’s use the connections we have to resist what’s happening. It’s almost 1939 now. We do not want to repeat that history. Remember all the deaths? Remember all the ceremonies we’ve had, our whole lives, honouring those sacrifices?
There has to be a way through this, together. And we HAVE TO stop being complacent.
244) Day 12 -- Reason #12 to revolt against predatory capitalism
I am reminded of Pascal's wager with regards to hell. If you include the possibility of "infinite suffering" as the outcome to a choice, then that choice is insane, even if the chances are pretty low.
But the chances of mass destruction and infinite suffering due to predatory capitalism are not low. They are ONE HUNDRED PERCENT.
Humans have created a system that ONE HUNDRED PERCENT GUARANTEES unimaginable suffering.
243) Day 11 -- Reason #11 to revolt against Predatory Capitalism
These are still the early days of extremist control over YOUR freedom. It gets worse from here. We are entering a hellscape of CONTROL, under the guise of FREEDOM.
242) Day 10 -- Reason #10 to revolt against predatory capitalism
If you give people something, like a button to press, that they BELIEVE exerts some control over an outcome, people will press that button and CONVINCE THEMSELVES they actually have control. Even when the outcome is completely, utterly, uncontrollably random.
233) 365 Days, 365 Reasons to Revolt Against Predatory Capitalism: Day 1 -- Reason 1
This goes FAR beyond “left vs. right” politics. This is about basic shit, like Freedom. Human rights. The ability to live in a world of beauty and culture and safety and peace, rather than a prison of control and violence. We are entering humanity’s last stand.
228) Resisting Authoritarianism: It is time to get more involved
Look back at yourself someday as a goddamn hero, and be proud of what you did when the dark times came.
94) The Day I Saw My Future Unfold
I read a love poem once. It was titled “The Day I Saw My Future Unfold.” It was about a walk in a forest. The vibrancy of life. Beauty. The ecstasy of truly trusting someone with your whole heart. It sounded so perfect.
I wonder if their future unfolded the way they saw it.
So often, it doesn’t.
But in any terrain, you choose your path.
30) Hell: Epilogue
“Hell” is an allegory. It can help a person understand the suffering of feeling existentially Alone. And thus, it points towards Connection, through opening to suffering.
This is useful, if it helps you connect with others, and if it motivates you to go more deeply into your questions. But it’s not useful if it just scares you into clinging to The Answer that some particular cult insists upon.
24) Y/Y
Two old friends meet on a riverbank one day. One paces, one sits, watching the water. They do this every year. They have become famous in the local area. Their arguments are legendary. People think they hate each other. Most believe one will eventually kill the other and be done with it.
