257) Day 25 -- Reason #25 to revolt against Predatory Capitalism: Civil Rights and the Fight for Freedom
Undoing civil rights. Everybody has to understand, this is not Trump being stupid, or stupidly funny, or incompetent, although he is all three. But this? This is evil.
This destroys the progress our society made at the time of our grandparents. This is foundational stuff. Like medical research. Cancer treatments. Indigenous citizenship. Churches as holy ground. Schools as protected spaces. International alliances that have existed since WW1 and WW2.
Canceling all this? One man, just signing papers, that cancel all this?
This is evil. Not democracy, at all. Not good government. Not what any of our soldiers ever died for. If "support the troops" has ever meant anything to you, if Remembrance Day has ever meant anything to you, then get involved, and stand against this. Because THIS is what they died fighting against. THIS is the enemy of the FREEDOM that everybody is always talking about, on every side of politics.
Never forget. And the companies supporting him? Amazon. Facebook. Instagram. Google. Apple. Tesla. Tik Tok. Starlink. (Which Doug Ford has just given a $100 million contract to, by the way.)
Add to that list as it grows. Now it's Target. They have just cancelled all their diversity programs. It's White Supremacy, and "fuck people with disabilities", from now on.
Never forget. Use your $$. Stop supporting them. Stop buying from them. And forevermore, punish them until they no longer exist as companies. They support Trump, with MILLION$ of dollars so that he can do this. This buffoon, who is now destroying the democracies our ancestors died fighting for. These companies are dismantling it, so they can get obscenely wealthy. And those dollars they give to Trump's campaigns? Those are our dollars, your dollars. Because we buy their shit.
So stop buying their shit. One step at a time, remove ourselves from their customer base.
I know we can't do this instantaneously. Heck, I'm posting this on Facebook, because this is where so many of our friends gather online, and we don't have a similar alternative. I'm typing this on a MacBook, because I bought it years ago. Some people drive a Tesla, because they bought it years ago. Etc. We can't just stop using the things we already have. Obviously.
But we can stop buying more. Don't buy anything on Facebook marketplace. Don't click any ads. Let's use this platform, while we have no alternative, to bring it down, to share information, build The Resistance, and when there's an alternative (like Bluesky has now replaced Twitter for everyone who won't support Elon Musk anymore), then let's leave this shit-heap, and leave Zuckerberg altogether.
It's like an abusive marriage. Sometimes you can't just leave, because you're financially dependent on the marriage, and you'll literally be homeless. So you wait, gather resources, gather allies, and THEN leave.
Please make this your plan. And pay attention to what's happening. Politics MATTER to you now. Because they are coming for you. For real, this is affecting you. Trump is affecting the rights and dignity of either people you love, or the people they love. We're only a few degrees of separation from everyone in the United States.
And he is about to affect our gas prices, food prices, etc. Things in Canada are about to become very difficult. And American politics is 100% of the reason why. So yes, this matters to you, even if you don't want it to.
American politics also affects our politics. Much of our media is OWNED by American conglomerates, which are deeply rooted in the Republican Party. Much of what Canadians believe, has been fed to them by the Republican Party. This is simple fact. You can look it up yourself, and find out who owns your media sources. Much of it, is not Canadian. ESPECIALLY the ones that wear "patriotism" and "FREEDOM" on their sleeves, and cater to Conservative voters. This is just a fact. Look it up. And before you vote, realize that you're choosing between Canadian interests, and Republican interests, between Canada, and fascism, when you choose between our political parties. Because...that is a fact. It's an uncomfortable fact, but "facts don't care about your feelings." Right?
So yes, let's use the connections we have to resist what's happening. It's almost 1939 now. We do not want to repeat that history. Remember all the deaths? Remember all the ceremonies we've had, our whole lives, honouring those sacrifices?
There has to be a way through this, together. And we HAVE TO stop being complacent.
"How did the Holocaust happen?" "Why did the German people just allow that all to happen?" etc. Remember those questions you asked, at some point, maybe in high school when you really learned about the Holocaust and death camps and how-the-fuck did the world go to war? Well, this is how. Right now. Today. This year. This is how it happened.
So get involved. Starting talking with your friends, and figure out what to do.
I will keep posting ideas, and well-researched information to expose what is happening. That's one thing I can do.
