I applaud Mark Carney for his speech, for throwing down the gauntlet, for taking a sttand against the fortress-like, impoverished world of “great powers” dominating everything.  It was a powerful, epoch-shifting speech, and brilliant in its pragmatism.

But the world of depraved corporate greed that puts profit over people, over Life, over rights, over love, remains firmly in place.  Just diversified.

289) Mark Carney’s History-making Speech - 2026 World Economic Forum

Let me be direct. We are in the midst of a rupture, not a transition.

Over the past two decades, a series of crises in finance, health, energy and geopolitics have laid bare the risks of extreme global integration. But more recently, great powers have begun using economic integration as weapons, tariffs as leverage, financial infrastructure as coercion, supply chains as vulnerabilities to be exploited.

You cannot live within the lie of mutual benefit through integration when integration becomes the source of your subordination.

262) Day 30 -- Reason #30 to revolt against Predatory Capitalism: Manufacturing Consent, Part 2 -- Freedom Convoy

It turned out that the good ol’ patriotic Freedom Convoy wasn’t what it said it was. Sure, many people in the country and in the convoy didn’t realize that, but they, we, had all been duped. The Freedom Convoy wasn’t a citizens’ movement. It was a scam, an extremist campaign, a well-funded propaganda megaphone for the extreme-right-wing…

You know how there’s all this talk about Canada’s “terrible carbon tax”? You know how Pierre Poilievre and his ilk are telling Canadians that the oh-so-hated Carbon Tax, evil machination of Trudeau, is driving inflation and making us all struggle to afford food?

Well, it’s just not true. It is a bald-faced lie. But it sure gets voters to hate the Liberals, eh?

104) Freedom Convoy "vs." the Police

Such a “convoy” of Indigenous people (or say, BlackLivesMatter supporters…), would never, ever, ever make it to Canada’s capital without any real policing occurring.  They would never have selfies with friendly police officers who were proud to get recorded talking about how much they support “the movement”.  They would NEVER be allowed to parade themselves into the city’s core, to harass local residents, to violate practically every by-law that exists without the police lifting a finger.  And the rhetoric of the police would most certainly NOT be about how they don’t want to confront them or are unable to because of a lack of resources.
