241) Day 9 -- Reason #9 to revolt against Predatory Capitalism

This says it all. For far too long we've talked about "the environment" as though it's this "thing" external to us, and somehow separate from the economy, politics, and other "things".

But the environment is our air. Water. Heart. Lungs. Mind. Community. Family. Peace. War. Starvation. Abundance. Genocide. Ballet. Sports. Music. Grandmas and Grandpas. Laughter. Love. Hate. Acceptance. Intolerance. Greed. Ethics. Sex. Beauty. Joy. Freedom.

It's us. The environment is us. Whatever we do to "it", we do to us. And whatever we turn "us" into, we turn the environment-as-it-relates-to-humans into it as well.

For a very long time now, our entire lifetimes and more, we have built society around power, greed, hate, and war. (With the counter-currents of civil resistance, freedom, love, and peace.)

And so, in building our civilization, of buildings and land ownership, weapons, factories and pollution, we have turned our environment into a "thing" that will soon turn against us. In fact, already is.

We will lose the world of abundance that is EVERY HUMAN'S BIRTHRIGHT. And we will live, likely forever, in a world of scarcity.

Which is to say, Power, Greed, Hate, and War. Beautiful little babies that are brought into the world, will grow up knowing Fear, Uncertainty, Violence, and Enslavement.

Not music. Not sports. Not beauty. Not opportunity. Not peace. Not freedom. Not joy.

This has to change. It just has to.

This breaks my heart. Which is, of course, "the environment".
